We just added four new collars with matching leashes to the Pet Pawfection store from our friends at Earthdog. These eco-friendly collars and leashes feature triple-layer, 100% hemp canvas construction with the highest quality, contoured, quick-release hardware and distinctive, Earthdog-style trims. For those of you who follow our News blog or The Lap Pack blog, you may have noticed new Facebook and Twitter buttons with a yellow circle filled with what seems like a magic number. You may have even noticed a message when viewing a blog post that tells you how many points you just earned. These are Shweet buttons.

Each time you view or Shweet (short for Share and Tweet) a blog entry on our site, you can earn points. These points may then be used to get a ticket on the Shweet site for one of their many product giveaways. The odds of each giveaway are very good - typically 1 in 175 to 1 in 300. All you have to do is keep reading our blog and sharing blog posts with your friends to earn more points. Nice and simple!

You may have noticed a new button on our product pages. It is a grey button emblazoned with the word "WANT." So what does this puppy do? First, it allows you to add any product on our site to your own wish list. People who follow you in the WANT community can also see what things you are WANTing (if you so choose). Second, it allows you to share the items you WANT on Facebook and Twitter. Even better, you can use the WANT site to discover "products you've never seen, people with similar taste and stores you've never heard of." So I guess you could classify it as the wish list meets social networking.

I encourage you to check out the WANT site and a great introduction to its features. We chose this wish list provider because of its simplicity and large community. You can use it on any site that doesn't integrate directly with WANT like us via a version of the WANT button that you can drag to your browser's toolbar. I can't wait to see what these guys come up with next.

So get cracking on that wish list. Christmas will be here before you know it!

Pet Pawfection set up shop at the BOSC's annual holiday shopping event at the George Mason University Field House. If you live in the Northern Virginia area and missed it, make sure you attend next year. The vendors were amazing, and we had special visits from Santa and the Washington Capital's Slapshot! The wonderful smells of baked goods, scented candles and a host of other holiday goodies greeted us as we walked from one booth to the next. We have plenty of pics to share that showcase a few things we liked from the show. We also welcomed one new member to our pack: Chuckwagon. He's holding lunch for his mama in the next pic.

Pet Pawfection will set up shop at the Belvoir Officers' Spouses' Club Holiday Craft Boutique and Family Funfest this Saturday in Fairfax, Virginia at the George Mason Field House (Ox Road and University Drive) from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. We will have our usual doggie wares available, along with Christmas ornaments, dog breed tumblers, dog pens and other great gifts. This is another chance for you to get a jump on your holiday shopping and have fun with the whole family. Here is a taste of what will be available at the event:

• Over 130 vendors, informational organizations, and non-profit organizations will be in attendance
• Santa will visit from 10:30 AM - 1:00 PM!
• Washington Capitals' Mascot, Slapshot will visit at 2:00 PM!
• Mason Glee Club performance
• Boyle Irish Dance performance
• Demonstration by Jason Yi's Tae Kwon Do College
• Scavenger Hunt
• Cake Decorating Contest
• Bake Sale
• Red, Hot & Blue, Papa John's and Subway will provide great food

Admission is $4 for one person, $6 for a family and free for kids under 6. Proceeds benefit BOSC activities, scholarship fund and philanthropy projects. Pass the word to your pack and join us for this furtastic event!
